At last Tree Ledger is live

The principle data scientist Felix Lipkin, has launched a new way of using satellite imaging to monitor tree loss, suburb by suburb. CCS has been awaiting this launch, as no doubt so has Maroondah Council.

Unfortunately not a surprise to discover Croydon has lost 2 % since 2011 and now sits on just 30%, Ringwood has improved from 18% to 21 % Ringwood East has lost 3% but still currently sits on 31% and Heathmont has increased from a very low 14.7% to now 17 % So there is still work to be done to ensure every area retains above the 30 % required for safe healthy living.

From his email he says “Given your leadership of CCS and advocacy in this space, I wanted to ensure you were aware of the launch and the resources now available.”

Click on the Browse Suburbs either from the top menu or from the home page.  CCS is sure there is still work to do to retain our mature canopy trees across our region.
