Direct link to EPA air quality at Mooroolbark, the closest air quality monitoring station to Maroondah. Mooroolbark is the furthest East (to the right) blue spot on the map.

The Yarra Valley topography, sometimes acts as a funnel, when westerly winds are prevailing. This can mean that any air pollution can be blown along the lowest point, the river channel, and can move into the Yarra Valley region. The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has a number of permanent air quality stations, the closest to our municipality is at Mooroolbark, with the next closest at Box Hill.

The EPA is also using mobile testing stations, mostly in country regions, but if there was a particular need, it is possible to request an opportunity for a particular location.
