Bushlinks/ Friends groups
Bushlinks is the umbrella group for all volunteers who work in their own local reserve, enhancing weeding and nurturing indigenous plants in our municipality. It has broad membership for all “friends of ” groups, and also connections with groups doing similar work in neighbouring municipalities. A newsletter is published regularly, as well as meetings and occasionally workshops are held. The most effective way to connect with these likeminded local people is to sign up for the Yahoo group.
For a number of years information has been exchanged between the “Bush Volunteer Community” in the City of Maroondah. At a meeting of Maroondah Bushlinks concern was expresses that there was insufficient exchange of information about environmental matters. This concern was again expressed at Maroondah Council’s Environment Forum in May 2007. So a Yahoo group website was set up to allow those living in Maroondah and nearby areas, who care about the Environment, to share information about a wider range of Environment Issues. The website includes information about activities, environmental newsletters, links to other websites, photos, etc.; and is used to send messages to other members.
Anyone can view the home page, but to view or load files etc or to send messages, you need to become a member, this is free. If you want to become a member email Maroondah Bushlinks at MarBushOz@hotmail.com requesting an invitation and a note telling them who you are and why you want to join the group, and an invitation will be sent to you via Yahoo!.
